When I post on social media about marriage and divorce, you’ll see a lot of Christians debating what you can and can’t do. The reason Christians argue back and forth about subjects like marriage, leadership in the church, women in the church, or just about anything, is that many don’t understand our New Covenant with God.
The New Covenant isn’t a rule book like the Old Covenant. It’s about a relationship with God. This relationship has removed the law, so we’re not under a law; we’re in a relationship with the lawgiver. We’re not reading the New Covenant for rules but to deepen our relationship with God.
As we grow closer to God, we instinctively live holy because we understand His heart and character. If we focus on getting closer to God rather than finding rules, our Christian walk will improve and be less confrontational with other believers.
